COMMON
QUESTIONS
What makes genuine Murano glass different?
Genuine Murano glass is handmade on the island of Murano, Italy, using traditional glassmaking techniques. Each piece has exceptional depth of color and subtle variations that make every element unique.
Can Murano glass be used for large installations?
Yes. Large chandeliers and architectural installations are created from multiple individually hand-blown glass elements mounted onto an engineered metal structure. This allows us to create impressive compositions for hotel lobbies, atriums, staircases, and double-height spaces.
Will all the glass elements have exactly the same color?
We carefully coordinate production to achieve consistent color throughout the installation. However, because every element is handmade, small variations in color, shape, and texture are natural and are part of the character of authentic Murano glass.
How are large Murano glass installations supported?
Large installations use a specially engineered metal armature that supports and distributes the weight of the individual glass elements. For architectural projects, the total weight and ceiling load requirements are calculated before production.
What kind of lighting effect does Murano glass create?
Murano glass produces a soft, atmospheric glow rather than the sharp sparkle associated with crystal. The lighting can be designed to emphasize the glass color, transparency, and layered texture, creating a dramatic effect even in large spaces.
How are large Murano installations delivered and installed?
Each glass element is individually protected and packed for transportation. The pieces are then assembled onto the metal structure on site according to a detailed installation plan. Professional installation or installation supervision can be arranged for large hospitality and commercial projects.
How should Murano glass be cleaned?
We recommend gentle cleaning with a soft cloth and suitable glass-care products. For installations positioned high above the floor, maintenance access should be considered during the design stage, using lift access, a lowering system, or professional cleaning.
What is the lead time for a custom Murano glass installation?
A custom architectural Murano installation typically requires approximately 16–24 weeks, depending on its size, complexity, colors, and the number of handmade elements. For hospitality and commercial projects, we recommend confirming the design early in the project schedule.
